1900’l\u00fc senelerde k\u0131z \u00e7ocuklar\u0131nda k\u0131sa boy, ge\u00e7 ergenlik, yele bi\u00e7iminde boyun, kollar\u0131n d\u0131\u015fa d\u00f6n\u00fck olmas\u0131 gibi normal olmayan \u00f6zellikler tespit edilmi\u015ftir. Buna Turner Sendromu denmektedir. Di\u015fi kromozomlar\u0131n yap\u0131s\u0131nda bir eksiklik veya bozukluk olmas\u0131 neticesinde ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan bir hastal\u0131kt\u0131r. Bu hastal\u0131\u011f\u0131n k\u0131z bebe\u011fin anne karn\u0131nda geli\u015fmesi ve b\u00fcy\u00fcmesi esnas\u0131nda ortaya \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131\u011f\u0131 bilinmektedir. Kendini geli\u015fme gerili\u011fi, boy k\u0131sal\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve k\u0131s\u0131rl\u0131k gibi baz\u0131 anormal \u00f6zelliklerle g\u00f6stermektedir.<\/p>\n

Turner sendromlu bebekler, normal bebeklere g\u00f6re biraz daha d\u00fc\u015f\u00fck kilolu ve daha k\u0131sa boylu do\u011farlar. B\u00fcy\u00fcme ve geli\u015fmeleri ilk 1 – 2 sene normaldir. Ancak okul d\u00f6neminde boylar\u0131n\u0131n daha k\u0131sa oldu\u011fu anla\u015f\u0131l\u0131r ve ergenlik d\u00f6neminde turner sendromlu k\u0131zlar\u0131n uzamamas\u0131 sebebiyle boy fark\u0131 giderek artar. Bu k\u0131zlar\u0131n boy ortalamas\u0131 140 santimetre dolay\u0131ndad\u0131r. Bu nedenle bu k\u0131zlara b\u00fcy\u00fcme hormonu tedavisi uygulan\u0131r.<\/p>\n

Ergenlik d\u00f6neminde turner sendromlu k\u0131zlarda yumurta h\u00fccresi bulunmaz. Ayr\u0131yeten kad\u0131nl\u0131k hormonlar\u0131 da yetersizdir. Bu hormonlar\u0131n ergenlik geli\u015fimini ve adet d\u00f6neminin olmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flamas\u0131 bu hormonlardaki yetersizli\u011fin neden k\u0131s\u0131rl\u0131\u011fa sebep oldu\u011funu a\u00e7\u0131klamaktad\u0131r. Tedavi edilmezse bu hep b\u00f6yle s\u00fcrecek ve k\u0131z \u00e7ocuklar\u0131 ergenlik d\u00f6nemini ya\u015fayamayacakt\u0131r.
